Baku University and Institute of Urdu Language and Literature Strengthen Ties

Lahore, Pakistan - The Institute of Urdu Language and Literature, Punjab University, was honored to host Dr. Amalya Pashayeva, Urdu Professor at Baku University, Azerbaijan, on December 11, 2025. Dr. Pashayeva's visit aimed to explore collaborative opportunities between the two institutions and promote Urdu language and literature. ![]() Accompanied by Professor Abid Shirwani, Co-Founder of the University of Management and Technology, Dr. Pashayeva's delegation included Mr. Nail, Mr. Anis Iqbal Chaudhry, Ms. Shahla Aziz, and Mr Sinan. ![]() During her visit, Dr. Pashayeva met with Dr. Baseera Ambreen, Director of the Institute, and discussed the current state of Urdu at Baku University. She expressed her desire for collaborative projects, research, and teacher-student exchange programs, highlighting the potential for mutual growth and development. ![]() Dr. Pashayeva also showed keen interest in pursuing a post-doctorate from the Urdu Institute, Punjab University, demonstrating her commitment to advancing Urdu language and literature studies. ![]() The delegation visited the Oriental College, met with faculty members, and exchanged books. Dr. Pashayeva presented a booklet on her Urdu research, showcasing her expertise in the field. ![]() Dr. Baseera Ambreen expressed her delight in welcoming Dr. Pashayeva and her delegation to the institute, stating that her visit has strengthened ties between the institutions and opened new avenues for collaboration in promoting Urdu language.
